First Annual Block Party a Scorcher

Hundred degree temperatures could not slow the onslaught of children that gathered for a day of fun in the sun. Neighbors, family and friends from the petitioned area came together for N. Ahrens First Annual Block Party. Organized by Jennifer Hagen the block offered countless food and drink opportunities along with plenty of games to keep everyone entertained. Children enjoyed the water fights along with the moon jump and other activities offered while adults engaged in volleyball, toss across and mingled with both old and new acquaintances. The ongoing train traffic at the end of the block served a solemn reminder of the recent tragedy and the existing nearby dangers. Though no date has been set for next year’s party I will personally be lobbying for a date later in the year. A big thanks goes out to Jennifer along with all who contributed. We would also like to congratulate activist Alicia King on the birth of her fifth child Ava Lauren King who weighed in at 7Lb 15 oz.
