Car-train collision kills driver

WAYNE CO., IL (WFIE) - One man is dead and another critically injured after a car-train collision in Fairfield.

It happened just after noon on the tracks at Southwest Sixth Street.

Police say the driver, Christopher Joas, 27, died at the scene. Passenger Nathan Knavel, 20, was taken to Fairfield Memorial Hospital and airlifted to an Evansville hospital.

Both men worked for the Wayne County Press.
