KristensLaw Reports on Abingdon Tragedy
Deteriorated railroad crossing/ties appear to be responsible for the hang-up that occurred while Shawn Stone-Garzee and his cousin attempted to tow a disabled go cart over the Sanitary Rd. railroad tracks near Jefferson St. in Abingdon, IL. last Monday May 26.
T.E.A.R.S. representatives Helen Byrd and Marjorie McCaleb reported to Abingdon to work with the familes involved. "It has been an impossible time for the Stone Family, all kinds of rumors have been shed on the incident making it even tougher for the families and their grieving process", noted Byrd. " The boys had successfully cleared the crossing, unfortunately the wheels of the go cart became stuck on the tracks leaving it in the path of the speeding train. In a snap judgment Shawn's first instinct was to try and free the cart. His cousin tried to stop him but it was too late. It all happened so fast." Our Hearts and Prayers will always remain with these families. read more........
