A Metra train fatally struck a man in northwest suburban
Arlington Heights Thursday night, police said.
Michael Cooper,
57, of 1109 W. Hawthorne St. in Arlington Heights, was struck by a train at 900
W. Euclid Ave. and was pronounced dead on the scene at 8:45 a.m., the Cook
County Medical Examiner’s office said.
An autopsy is
scheduled for later Friday. Cooper was struck by a Metra
Train about 8:40 p.m., Arlington Heights police Cmder.

Metra’s Union Pacific Northwest train No. 657 was scheduled to
arrive at Chicago’s Ogilvie Transportation Center at 8:55 p.m., but was stopped
because of the “pedestrian incident,” according to Metra’s
Web site. Police temporarily closed the intersection of U.S. Route 14 and
Euclid Avenue while police investigated, Miljan said.
A Metra spokesperson was not immediately available.
Arlington Heights and Metra police are investigating.
